Emergency Preparedness Week Fall 2023: Test Your Campus Safety

Planning for the unexpected and staying safe on campus, Austin Community College District (ACC) will practice emergency response procedures and test its emergency notification system as part of Emergency Preparedness Week (EPW) from Tuesday, September 5, through Friday, September 8.

Safety and security remains a top priority for the college. Every third week of the semester, ACC hosts Emergency Preparedness Week to help students and employees prepare and train for the best actions to take in the event of an emergency on campus.

Drills are an essential component of ACC’s readiness plan. During EPW, ACC will conduct building evacuation drills at select campuses and test the ACC Emergency Alert System districtwide which sends emergency alert texts and emails to registered accounts.

Get ready now by verifying or updating your contact information online to receive ACC’s emergency notifications.

How You Can Prepare for Emergency Preparedness Week:

  1. View the ACC Emergency website for detailed information about various types of emergencies.
  2. Get connected to ACC on social media. Most emergency alerts that are distributed through our Emergency Alert System also are posted to the college’s homepage and its Facebook & X (Twitter) pages.
  3. Know the Emergency Egress Plan. Maps are posted on every campus and in classrooms to identify emergency exits, Areas of Rescue Assistance, Automated External Defibrillators, shelter-in-place locations in the event of severe weather, and evacuation rally points.
