ACC recognized for 50th anniversary by several Central Texas City Councils

City of Kyle Proclamation for ACC

As Austin Community College District (ACC) celebrates its 50th anniversary, Central Texas City Councils honor the impact of the college. City Councils are issuing proclamations in recognition of ACC’s work to change higher education and its commitment to workforce development, career advancement, and access to affordable education.

Kyle and Elgin issued their proclamations on Tuesday, September 5.

Leander will issue one on Thursday, September 21, followed by Cedar Park on Thursday, September 28. A proclamation is also planned for the City of Austin.

The ACC service area covers all or portions of six Central Texas counties, including Bastrop, Blanco, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson.

When ACC first opened its doors in September 1973, it welcomed just over 1,700 students. Today, the college proudly serves approximately 70,000 students annually.
