ACC helps prepare students for new financial aid applications

Austin Community College District (ACC) is working now to prepare students for the changes on the newly updated Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) process for the 2024-25 school year.

ACC will offer additional support to students to make sure they understand the changes and get money for college. A team with the college will work with each student directly to explore options and connect them with funds.

Significant changes to the  FAFSA application process include expanded eligibility, a more streamlined application, and an improved user experience for the form. The goal is to make the application less complex and more accessible for students and their families. Additionally, the criteria for students who belong to non-English-speaking; incarcerated; or foster, homeless, and unaccompanied youth populations has been expanded.

TASFA will launch an online form for the first time. Students should fill out either the FAFSA or TASFA, not both. The TASFA pertains to students who are classified as Texas residents but are not eligible for the FAFSA, such as those who are non-citizens or non-permanent residents of the United States.
Students seeking guidance on financial support options may contact an ACC advisor.
