Registering for classes should be simple, but sometimes it can feel overwhelming. Find my top five tips below for ensuring you can find and register for the classes you want and need.

Top 5 Tips for Registration

  1. Prepare in advance!

It’s always good to know what you’re looking for before you register. Check the online course schedule to start planning and finding the courses you are interested in so that when you are ready to register, you already know which classes work for your degree plan or other goals. Have an idea of the core requirements you need to meet and electives you want to take. If you need help, schedule an appointment with an advisor. Also, make sure there are no holds on your student account that may prevent you from being able to register. To view and clear any holds, go to the My Status and Holds page on the MyACC portal.

  1. Pick the classes that work best for you

There are several ways to learn designed to fit all schedules, including in-person and online, as well as hybrid and hyflex formats. Consider your own daily schedule and lifestyle, and be realistic about what course load you are able to handle on top of any other commitments. You want to be sure to find times, locations, and instruction formats that set you up for success.

  1. Take advantage of ACC’s resources

Try to meet with your advisor before registering. You can receive help selecting classes that allow you to stay on track for your career and educational goals. Advisors are available for 1-on-1 assistance both virtually and in person; click here to find your advisor. For further registration assistance, visit the Registration Stations in the ACCelerators at the Highland, Round Rock, or San Gabriel campuses Monday-Friday (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) or make a virtual appointment with Registration Station staff.

  1. Register for your classes as soon as possible

Classes fill up quickly, and you don’t want to be in a position where you have to scramble to find classes that work for you. Even if you register right away, have a list of backup options ready just in case your first choices are unavailable. Registering early is also wise because if you encounter any issues, you will have plenty of time to resolve them with the assistance of ACC’s advising team.

  1. Keep an eye out for important dates, emails

Continue checking the ACC official calendar and your ACCmail account regularly for important deadlines and updates. Even if you are registered, you will be dropped from your courses if you miss the tuition deadline. Prepare now by setting up a payment plan. Additionally, if you are on the waitlist for a course, you will not be automatically added if the seat becomes available. You still will need to accept via the email sent to your ACCmail address in order to enroll.

Spring classes begin Tuesday, January 16. For more information, visit austincc.edu/spring.
