ACC hosts Emergency Preparedness Week January 29-February 2

Safety and security remain a top priority for Austin Community College District (ACC). The college will practice emergency response procedures and test its emergency notification system from January 29 through February 2 as part of Emergency Preparedness Week.

ACC hosts Emergency Preparedness Week every semester to help prepare students and employees for the best actions to take in case of an emergency on campus or in the district.

Throughout the week, ACC will test and practice its emergency response procedures districtwide with drills and test runs of the ACC Emergency Alert System, which sends emergency alert texts and emails to registered accounts.

The test of the Emergency Alert System will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31.

Get ready now by verifying or updating your contact information online to receive ACC’s emergency notifications.

HOW YOU CAN PREPARE FOR EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WEEK

  1. View the ACC Emergency website for detailed information about various types of emergencies.
  2. Get connected to ACC on social media. Most emergency alerts that are distributed through our Emergency Alert System also are posted to the college’s homepage and its Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) pages.
  3. Know the Emergency Egress Plan. Maps are posted on every campus and in classrooms to identify emergency exits, Areas of Rescue Assistance, Automated External Defibrillators, shelter-in-place locations in the event of severe weather, and evacuation rally points.
