Austin Community College District (ACC) celebrated the most recent cohort of graduates from the Lockhart Correctional Facility in April. ACC’s Continuing Education Division’s unique partnership provides customized training and certification in some of the most in-demand careers in Central Texas, from manufacturing to logistics and welding.
These programs, which include Certified Production Technicians, Certified Logistics Technicians, and Welding Technicians, are designed to equip inmates with the skills necessary to secure jobs in manufacturing and welding upon their release.
The program aims to prepare graduates to return to society after release and fight recidivism. ACC trains those students to provide the appropriate skill set to obtain a job upon release. They are qualified for entry-level and supervisor roles.
