What is the Harvest Moon Festival?
The Harvest Moon Festival (also known as Mid-Autumn Festival) is one of the most important festivals celebrated in East and Southeast Asia, including China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam. It falls on the 15th day of the eighth month on the Lunar Calendar. On this day, the moon is supposed to be the biggest and brightest. Traditional festivities include family reunions, moon gazing, and sharing “moon cakes,” which are pastries made with sweet fillings.
More information about this event and the AAPI Cultural Center can be found on the AAPI Cultural Center website.
