ACC Lockhart ISD Annexation and Board seats on the ballot; Track the results!

It’s Election Day! Austin Community College District (ACC) has several items on the ballot, including the Lockhart Independent School District (LISD) territory deciding whether to join the district and three Board of Trustees seats.

Election results will be posted to the College’s election web page.

ACC Ballot Items

  • Lockhart ISD Annexation | Voters in the Lockhart ISD territory will decide if they want to annex into the Austin Community College District. Currently, the area is part of the College’s Service Area, but is not considered in-district because voters in that area do not pay ACC taxes. In May 2024, the community presented a petition from residents requesting annexation into the College. If Lockhart area voters approve the measure, the Lockhart ISD territory will join the district, granting residents access to all in-district benefits including in-district tuition.
  • Board of Trustees | Three seats on the ACC Board of Trustees are on the ballot for ACC District voters. Voters will elect trustees for Places 7, 8, and 9. Current Board Chair and long-serving member of Place 7, Dr. Barbara Mink, is not seeking reelection. Voters will decide between Cole Wilson and Sherri Taylor. Place 9 incumbent Julie Ann Nitsh is running against Joseph Sefton. Place 8 incumbent Stephanie Gharakhanian is running unopposed. ACC Trustees are elected at large and serve a six-year term.

ACC supports and encourages all employees, students, and the community to exercise their civic responsibility by taking the time to vote.
