The Austin Community College District (ACC) Board of Trustees and ACC Foundation accepted a major $322,760 gift from Dr. John Roueche on Monday, December 2, 2024. 

The gift will fund multiple endowed scholarships for ACC students. In appreciation, the College will name Conference Room 4101 at the Highland Campus, Building 3000, the “Dr. John Roueche Conference Room.”

“Dr. Roueche’s generosity and commitment to student success are truly transformative. This gift impacts the lives of countless students by funding scholarships that create greater access to higher education,” says ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart. “Gifts like these not only enhance student opportunities but also reinforce our mission to support academic achievement and personal growth. We are deeply grateful for Dr. Roueche’s continued leadership and service to ACC.”

Dr. Roueche, a long-serving ACC Foundation Board member and renowned community college leader, has significantly supported ACC through scholarships and philanthropic contributions. He and his late wife, Suanne, have profoundly impacted the college and its students by establishing multiple scholarships, including the Drs. John and Suanne Roueche Endowed Scholarship and the Dr. Suanne Davis Roueche Vet Tech Scholarship. 

Allocation of gifts to scholarships

• $297,760 to the Drs. John and Suanne Roueche Endowed Scholarship
• $20,000 to establish the Ann Schubert Endowed Scholarship
• $5,000 to the Pamela Williams Sutton Endowed Scholarship

Dr. Roueche’s career includes decades of leadership in higher education, mentorship of ACC administrators, and national recognition for his work in community colleges.

He is a long-time contributor to the ACC 500 Club and has played a vital role in advancing higher education access and student success. 

Beyond financial support through the ACC Foundation, his philanthropic contributions have extended to the College’s physical spaces, including the Dr. John Roueche Library and the Drs. John and Suanne Roueche Austin Community College Executive Offices.
