Austin Community College District (ACC) honors our students’ incredible achievements at the upcoming Fall 2024 Commencement. More than 3,900 are invited to the ceremony at 4 p.m. Thursday, December 12, at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
Leading up to the big day, ACC will be spotlighting students.
Meet Cecilia Aleman, a 34-year-old Business Office Technology graduate. She started at ACC in 2008, then took an extended break before returning to ACC in spring 2021. Cecilia is an active participant and volunteer in the ACC Intramural sports program and was hired as an ACC Intramural volleyball coach. She also works full-time and is a parent.
Hear more about her story below.
When did you start at ACC?
In the fall of 2008, took a long break in 2011, and came back in the Spring of 2021.
Why did you choose ACC?
I chose ACC because it’s affordable, location convenience, and their classes will work for everyone, including those working full time and needing evening classes or online courses.
How does it feel to be graduating?
Best feeling in the world! Still do not believe that I made it to the finish line after so long!
What was your favorite part of ACC?
Meeting the ladies from the volleyball team, learning new skills for my professional development, and applying those skills to the workforce.
Any faculty or staff you want to recognize supporting you?
Coach Tracy Patin. Thank you for trusting me and letting me be part of the volleyball team.
What is next for you?
Excelling & growing in the work field.
What would you tell someone considering applying for college?
Don’t let fear or time discourage you from getting to the finish line. No matter how long it takes, get there! The end result is so worth it!
