Welcome back, Riverbats! Spring semester begins Tuesday, January 21

Austin Community College District (ACC) welcomes students for the spring 2025 semester on Tuesday, January 21. ACC employees will station at all 11 campuses this week to greet students and help them find their way around campus as they arrive for the start of the semester.

“There are so many emotions on the first day of a semester. Students are returning to class or starting for the very first time. It can be exhilarating and intimidating all at once. That’s why we put ourselves out here, so that when they get here, there’s a smiling face to welcome them,” says ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart. “2025 will be a big year for ACC. We’re doing a lot of exciting work to reimagine higher education and what it takes to support students both in and out of the classroom. We’re already seeing the impact of this work. Every semester, we see more students taking classes and more students getting to their finish line.”

As of Wednesday, January 15, overall student enrollment was up more than 14%, with overall credit hours up almost 18% — meaning more students are enrolling in more classes. New student enrollment also increased more than 24%. Registration is up in almost all areas of study, with the highest enrollment increases in:

  • Business | 30%
  • Science, Engineering, Math | 21%
  • Liberal Arts | 14 %
  • Health Science | 11%

ACC continues to provide a robust network of free resources to support students in and out of the classroom. These include:

  • Financial aid and expanded payment options
  • Free tutoring services
  • Mental health counseling
  • Food pantries and child care scholarships
  • Connections to community resources

It’s Not Too Late to Start

Students still working through the application and registration process can take advantage of ACC’s flexible learning options. Registration remains open for 14-, 12-, and 8-week courses, allowing students to begin classes later in the semester while staying on track.
