
Austin Community College District (ACC) observes Juneteenth — the national day of recognition of the end of slavery — with a series of activities and events.
Wednesday, June 18 | Juneteenth Celebration | Eastview Campus | 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Hosted by the ACC’s African American Cultural Center, the communitywide Juneteenth celebration will include music, games, giveaways, and more. This event is free and open to the public.
Thursday, June 19 | College Closed
ACC will be closed on Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth, which was designated a federal holiday by Congress in 2021. Registration will remain open. The College will reopen Friday, June 20.
Thursday, June 19 | Annual Juneteenth Parade
ACC will participate in the annual Greater East Austin Youth Association Juneteenth Park Festival and Parade on Thursday, June 19. ACC will have its own float. The parade begins at 10 a.m. near the intersection of Comal St. and E. Martin Luther King Blvd. and ends near Rosewood Park.
The College has honored Juneteenth since 1974 with both internal and external celebrations, including musical performances, cultural awareness talks, guest speakers, and opportunities to showcase the College’s African American Cultural Center.
