ACC Automotive Technology Receives Electric Vehicle Donation

Austin Community College District (ACC) is charging forward with its plans to expand the Automotive Technology Program thanks to a new donation from City Limits Nissan. The dealership presented the program with an electric vehicle on Tuesday, September 16, at ACC’s Riverside Campus.

“This donation directly supports our students’ success. Hands-on experience with electric vehicle technology ensures they graduate ready for the jobs of today and tomorrow,” said Mike Shoebroek, Automotive Department Chair. “We’re grateful to City Limits Nissan for helping us prepare a skilled workforce that can keep pace with the future of the automotive industry.”

According to the International Energy Agency, electric vehicle sales are expected to exceed 20 million in 2025, which is about a quarter of all cars sold for the year. Approximately four million electric vehicles are on the road in the United States today.

The addition supports ACC’s efforts to accelerate training in electric vehicle technology, giving students valuable hands-on experience with the systems and tools shaping the future of the automotive industry. As cars become more advanced and reliant on electronic systems, opportunities like this help prepare students for high-demand careers in the region’s rapidly evolving auto workforce.

“We’re proud to donate this electric vehicle to ACC’s Automotive Technology program, knowing it will give students invaluable hands-on experience with the latest electric vehicle technology,” said Jason Laguna, general manager of City Limits Nissan. “We’re excited about our partnership and look forward to building a strong, lasting relationship with both faculty and students.”

ACC’s Auto Tech Program is accredited by the Automotive Service Excellence Education Foundation (ASEEF). Students can earn certificates, an occupational skills award, an associate degree, or transfer credits. Courses are offered at the Riverside and Round Rock campuses.
