Austin Community College District (ACC) has been recognized as one of the most affordable colleges in Texas for associate degree programs, according to a new ranking from AffordableDegreeGuide.org. The College placed fourth in the state for the 2024–25 academic year.
The ranking evaluates institutions based on tuition rates and overall cost of attendance, providing students with a resource to compare programs that balance quality and value.
“Affordability should never be the barrier that keeps someone from chasing their dreams,” says ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart. “At ACC, we are deeply committed to keeping education within reach for every student. When we remove financial roadblocks and pair affordability with strong support systems, we empower more students to start, stay, and succeed, and that’s what this recognition is all about.”
AffordableDegreeGuide.org publishes state-by-state lists each year to highlight institutions offering cost-effective degree options. ACC’s placement among the top five underscores its role in expanding access to higher education in Central Texas.
ACC serves more than 70,000 students annually across 11 campuses. The recognition comes as affordability continues to be a pressing issue in higher education, with many Texas students and families seeking ways to limit debt while pursuing postsecondary credentials.
Earlier this year, ACC’s Board of Trustees voted to maintain in-district tuition rates for the 12th consecutive year. Beyond affordability, ACC works to address the challenges students face.
The College provides resources like child care support, transportation assistance, food access, and emergency aid to help students stay on track. ACC continues to create flexible course options and inclusive learning environments that build a sense of belonging. Together, these efforts ensure students are not only able to enroll, but also able to complete their programs and transition into careers with family-sustaining wages.
