More than 100 students, employees, and community members came together at Austin Community College District’s (ACC) Highland Campus on Wednesday, September 17, for Constitution Day 2025.
Participants engaged in lively, thoughtful conversations on the question “What is an American?” Small-group discussions, led by ACC students and faculty, drew from U.S. foundational documents and voices such as Frederick Douglass, Barbara Jordan, and Gloria Anzaldúa.

The evening also featured reflections from ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart and local lawmakers, who joined the conversations and shared what they learned from hearing directly from students.
The event was inspired by ACC’s Great Questions Community Seminar. which invites students and the community to connect with classic texts and one another in dialogue. Attendees were encouraged to continue engaging with Great Questions events throughout the semester.
