The Austin Community College District (ACC) Board of Trustees met for its regular meeting on Monday, November 3. Trustees approved moving forward with a contract for a new Student Information System (SIS) Software Ecosystem, naming a physics laboratory on campus after one of ACC’s founding deans, and a contract for investment advisor services.
Prior to the meeting, Trustees held a work session where they heard recommendations from ACC’s Theory of Change Required Advising and Paying for College design teams.
Below are highlights from the Board meetings.
Student Information System Software Ecosystem Approved
The College asked the Board to approve a new supplier for its Student Information System (SIS) Software Ecosystem. The new system will replace the Ellucian Colleague system, which ACC has used for the past 25 years. The College aims to consolidate and streamline its SIS ecosystem, while ensuring all required functionality is delivered through a unified, cloud-based platform.
ACC conducted a competitive sealed proposal (CSP) for the contract, estimated to cost $12.2 million. Funding for the contract is included in the Operating Budget as part of the Technology Plan. The Board originally approved funding for this project in FY20 as a multi-year implementation of new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and SIS systems, and those funds are still allocated within the Technology Plan for this purpose.
The functional lead for the purchasing committee created a cross-functional subcommittee team comprised of subject matter experts from different areas of their respective departments, including employees involved in the Theory of Change process, to provide feedback and expertise. A total of 93 ACC personnel were involved in the CSP procurement process.
The College received and evaluated four proposals, with Ellucian Company LLC, specifically its Banner product, as the final recommendation.
The proposed SIS software ecosystem is expected to go live by the 2027 fall semester.
Physics Lab Naming Opportunity
The Board approved naming the Rio Grande Campus, Building 1000 Physics Laboratory (Room 1.1106) after Dr. John Cise, founding dean for the College’s Mathematics and Science departments. Cise also served as a physics professor from 1973 to 2020. After his passing in 2023, his estate donated a total of $130,099 toward the Gertrudes Cabacuncan Cise Endowed Scholarship in Nursing. The scholarship was established in honor of his wife who passed away in 2012. The ACC Foundation recommended naming the physics laboratory in recognition of Dr. Cise’s legacy and his significant philanthropic contributions to ACC student scholarships.
Consent Items Approved
The Board approved two items on the consent agenda: a contract with Valley View Consulting LLC for Investment Advisor Services and the FY26 List of Sole Source and Interlocal Contracts Over $150,000.
