Free Tuition & Affordability Scholarship continues to drive momentum in student success

Austin Community College District (ACC) celebrates more than 4,440 graduates invited to participate in its Fall 2025 Commencement Ceremony. This class marks one of the largest graduating cohorts in the College’s history, up 12% from last fall. 

The milestone reflects a continued upward trend in completion, fueled in part by ACC’s Free Tuition and Affordability Scholarship initiatives and expanded student support systems.

“Commencement is always emotional for me because every graduate represents a story of resilience, sacrifice, and hope,” said ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart. “Our student success translates directly to our region’s success. That’s why ACC is transforming how we serve—from free tuition and flexible pathways to the supports that help students stay in school. This momentum is a powerful reminder that when we put people first, we don’t just change individual futures but we shape the future of Central Texas.”

The ceremony will honor students completing associate and bachelor’s degrees, workforce certificates, and high school equivalency credentials. 

By the numbers

• 5,086 degrees and certifications
• 3,347 associate degree earners
• 1,625 certificate completers
• 115 bachelor’s degree graduates from ACC’s four-year programs
• 154 students completing their high school equivalency (GED)
• 1,716 graduates who participated in the Free Tuition and Affordability Scholarship initiatives

“When I began, I knew I was on the right path. The accomplishments I’ve made here, both academically and in awards, [are] mainly because they pushed me to the next level and helped me see what I’m capable of,” said Zoila Walston, ACC English graduate.
