Austin Community College District (ACC) continues to move forward on the Hays Campus expansion. The College reached a key milestone with the completion of the Design Development phase for the 2022 Bond project at Hays.
The project brings healthcare education, training, and labs to the Hays Campus. With the architectural layout and core building systems now finalized, the project moves from planning into the final stage of technical documentation. This important step brings the College closer to construction.
Ensuring Quality and Alignment
ACC teams are now conducting a comprehensive review of the project’s drawing sets in close coordination with College departments. This process ensures the design aligns with ACC Design Guidelines and Construction Standards, maintaining consistency across the campus.
Project teams are working directly with academic and program leaders to confirm that lab layouts and specialty equipment meet precise instructional and technical requirements with Health Professions programs that will occupy the space.
Commitment to Sustainability
The project remains on track to achieve LEED Silver certification. Design decisions continue to prioritize energy efficiency, responsible material use, and long-term environmental impact.
What’s Next: Preparing the Site
As final documentation and permitting move forward, the project is preparing to transition to on-site activity.
A groundbreaking is scheduled for June 2026.
Funded through the 2022 General Obligation Bond, the Hays Campus expansion will increase capacity for high-demand programs and support continued growth in the region.
