ACC Nursing Graduate Fulfills 14-Year Promise | Meet Xavier S.

This spring, more than 3,700 Riverbat students are invited to participate in the Austin Community 2026 Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, May 14, at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park.

One of those students is 34-year-old Xavier Siller, who will be earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He first started at ACC in fall 2023.

Read more about his path to graduation below.

Why did you choose ACC?

It was the cheapest out-of-pocket option.

What challenge did you overcome on your way to graduation?

Time management was my only issue.

Was there a moment you knew you were on the right path?

It was actually this semester that the degree I promised myself back in 2010, when I graduated high school. It’s finally setting in that I’m going to graduate.

Any faculty or staff you’d like to recognize?

Dr. Howard for being a great clinical instructor and Professor Lau for being the most amazing language instructor I’ve ever had.

How did ACC support you?

FLEXIBILITY IN CLASS OPTIONS. As someone who works full-time, I cannot emphasize how amazing online, asynchronous classes and evening classes have been.

What are you most proud of from your time here?

Meeting great people who have become friends.

What’s next for you?

REST. I plan on enjoying some vacations this summer and fall, and will then start applying for my master’s classes. I’m aiming for a master’s degree in Health Policy.

What advice would you give someone considering college?

Take the option while you can, especially in a school that is as flexible as ACC. Trades are great, higher degrees are great, build yourself into the person that you want to see succeed in the future, and it can easily start by becoming a Riverbat.
