Austin Community College District (ACC) earned the 2026 Highly Established Action Plan Seal from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, recognizing the College’s strong, nonpartisan approach to increasing civic learning, democratic engagement, and student voter participation.
The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge is a national nonpartisan initiative that works with colleges and universities to increase student participation in democracy. The Highly Established Action Plan Seal recognizes campuses with strong plans to institutionalize and expand civic engagement.
ACC is one of 233 colleges and universities nationwide to receive the recognition for the 2026 election cycle. The College’s action plan earned 30 out of 32 possible points under the Strengthening American Democracy Action Planning Guide rubric, exceeding the threshold for Highly Established Action Plan recognition. ACC’s action plan was evaluated on its ability to:
- Build broad campus leadership: Engage students, faculty, staff, and campus communities in civic engagement efforts.
- Set measurable, data-informed goals: Use student voter participation data and other research to establish short- and long-term goals for increasing civic engagement.
- Make civic engagement accessible: Provide students with clear information and opportunities to participate in the democratic process.
- Maintain a nonpartisan approach: Encourage voter participation and civic learning without supporting or opposing political parties or candidates.
- Demonstrate accountability and transparency: Make the College’s action plan and relevant voting data publicly available.
The recognition builds on ACC’s ongoing ACC Votes initiative, which connects students with nonpartisan voter education and civic engagement opportunities across the District. The initiative includes student-led efforts, educational programming, voter registration resources, and partnerships that help students understand and participate in the electoral process. The recognition comes as ACC prepares for the 2026 election cycle and continues its commitment to helping students become informed, engaged members of their communities.
