The Renewable Energy Student Association (RESA) just took one giant ‘green’ step.
The ACC student organization recently became the first community college student chapter in the country to join the American Solar Energy Society, a national association of solar professionals and advocates.
“What personally excites me is the ability for RESA to take on projects that benefit ACC, its students, and the general population with the support and donations from the renewable energy community outside the college,” says Jason Shaw, co-chair of RESA.
RESA was founded in 2008 by students in the college’s Renewable Energy Program. RESA’s goal is to promote the educational and professional success of current and future professionals in the renewable energy field. This also includes building efficiency, alterative technologies for automotives, and green business practices.
“Austin Community College has a variety of green programs such as alternative technology for vehicles and building efficiency,” says Shaw. “I feel an organization such as ASES supports all of these programs.”
ACC’s RESA membership is open to any student or industry professional interested in learning about renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency, alternative technology for vehicles, and sustainable practices. For more information, visit RESA’s website.
