This post is updated to reflect additional information on rankings that include four-year institutions.

The Austin Community College District ranks among the top associate degree and certificate producers in the country, according to an analysis by Community College Week.

The 2011 “Top 100” list is based on data from the 2009-10 academic year from the U.S. Department of Education. Among two-year institutions, ACC ranked 69th in the nation for awards of associate degrees in all disciplines (1,369 degrees conferred) and 84th for awards of two-year certificates in all disciplines (517). The college placed 54th for associate degrees awarded to Hispanic students (310) and 73rd for associate degrees awarded to all minorities (489). In addition, ACC placed eighth in the country for awards of associate degrees in health professions (453). The college ranked seventh for awards of associate degrees in registered nursing and related programs (291).

“This ranking is a reflection of the emphasis ACC places on graduation and student success,” says Dr. Stephen B. Kinslow, ACC president/CEO. “Research consistently shows the value of earning an associate degree or certificate. We encourage all students to make graduation one of their goals.”

Among all institutions (including four-year institutions), the college placed 96th for awards of associate degrees in all disciplines and 91st for awards of two-year certificates in all disciplines. ACC ranked 67th for associate degrees awarded to Hispanic students and 94th for associate degrees awarded to all minorities.
