The Austin Community College District Jazz Ensemble is teaming with a Grammy-winning artist to headline this year’s Texas Jazz Festival.
The ACC Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Tom Husak, will perform Saturday, October 22 at Heritage Park in Corpus Christi. Singer/guitarist Redd Volkaert, who won a Grammy in 2009 for Best Country Instrumental Performance, will accompany the group.
The ACC Jazz Ensemble will rehearse with Volkaert Thursday, October 13, and Thursday, October 20, from 7-9 p.m. at Northridge Campus (11928 Stonehollow Dr., Building 4000, Room 4136). The rehearsal sessions are free and open to the public.
The Texas Jazz Festival is expected to draw more than 150,000 people over three days.
“We’re quite proud of the band’s accomplishments and achievements through the years,” says Dr. Husak. “Headlining the Texas Jazz Festival with the great Redd Volkaert has to be ultimate kick for the us.”
The Texas Jazz Festival performance will include Dr. Husak’s arrangements of popular tunes.

Is there a link to a performance that we could show on our pc’s?

I have heard the ACC Jazz Ensemble rehearsing at the Northridge campus. They are very good. It’s a real pleasure to hear them play.
These free rehearsal sessions are a great opportunity to hear some terrific musicians.
