The Dance Department invites the college and community to the spring 2013 Choreographers’ Showcase, May 3 and 4 at ACC’s Rio Grande Campus (1212 Rio Grande St.). Performances take place at 8 p.m. in the Mainstage Theater.
“Choreography is a creative working process, and our students fully immerse themselves in this collaborative effort,” says Catherine Solaas, assistant professor in the Dance Department. “The showcase is our culminating event. Look for a wide spectrum of dance styles from pure dynamic movement with leaps and bounds to clever narrative dance.”
This spring’s showcase includes 10 dances choreographed by students and 3 pieces choreographed by faculty members Solaas, Darla Johnson, and Roxy Gage.
Tickets are available at the door. General admission is $10; admission is $5 for students and senior citizens. Proceeds benefit the Dance and Drama Scholarship Fund, which assists dance and drama majors with tuition, fees, and books.
A talkback with the performers will follow each show, and a reception will be held opening night. For more information, call 223-3384. To see videos from past showcases, visit the Dance Department webpage.
