Austin Community College faculty, staff, and students are invited to wear purple on Spirit Day Wednesday, October 19, as the college takes a stand against bullying and shows support for the LGBTQ community.
ACC’s’ LGBT eQuity Committee will host a Spirit Day event from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Riverside Campus. The group will share information about resources for LGBT students and highlight notable members of the LGBTQ community. The committee will recognize ACC faculty and staff who have gone above and beyond in supporting the committee’s mission.
“We want to spread the word that ACC is committed to remaining a place of inclusion, diversity, and equity for all, says Kisha Moragne, ACC counselor and LGBT eQuity co-chair.
The day also will feature a clothing exchange in support of students who need clothing that more closely represents their identity. Donations of clean, gently worn items can be placed in collection boxes on campuses.
ACC’s LGBT eQuity Committee strives to educate students, faculty, and staff on issues that impact the LGBTQ community. Visit the group’s website for information about activities and events.
