Benefits
The ERS Annual Enrollment period is July 5th – July 30th . ERS has made it easier to access your benefit information and make Annual Enrollment changes online. You do not need to do anything to change your benefits unless you are:
- Making a change to your Insurance Benefits
- Enrolling in Tex Flex Reimbursement account for the first time.
To make changes you are required to register for an ERS OnLine account and create a new Username and Password. To begin go to www.ers.state.tx.us and click the “View My Benefits” button at the top of the screen.
HR Benefits will host our ACC Annual Enrollment Fair and presentation on Monday, July 26, 2010. The major changes will be discussed at this meeting. We will also be available at each campus to assist employees during Annual Enrollment (no presentation will be given at the campuses). Additional information can be located on the HR Website.

Is your dependent turning 25?
Dependent children are eligible in the health insurance program until they turn 25 years old, as long as they are not married. They do not have to be students.
If you have a dependent child who is turning 25, ERS will automatically drop him or her from coverage at the end of the month he or she turns 25. ERS will send you a letter about six weeks before the coverage ends. The letter will include a COBRA Election form if you want to continue coverage. Your dependent must complete and mail the form and send the premium payment to ERS by the due date mentioned in the letter from ERS to continue coverage under COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985).
The Federal Health Care Reform, which extends coverage to dependent children up to age 26, goes into effect in the first plan year after September 23, 2010. Since the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP) plan year begins with the State’s fiscal year on September 1, coverage for dependents to age 26 would not begin until after September 1, 2011. We’ll provide more information in the coming months.
HR Connections is designed to update employees on new policies, & practices, changes related to the operations or procedures and to announce new programs. If you have a question or feedback, please email [email protected].
