Reducing the cost of college: ACC’s Transfer Week helps students navigate the process

Austin Community College District (ACC) hosts a series of workshops for Transfer Week Monday, September 12, through Friday, September 16. The virtual, in-person, and hybrid events allow students to connect with universities and ACC’s transfer team to learn more about ways to save time and money on their higher education journey.

Eleven university partners are participating, including the University of Texas at Austin, Texas State University, Concordia University, St. Edward’s University, Texas Tech University, Texas A&M University, the University of Colorado at Boulder, and more. 

Highlighted Events:

  • 11 a.m., Monday, September 12: Career and Major Exploration for Transfer Planning 
    • Make a career plan and discover what steps you can take to ensure your transfer journey is successful. Ask questions and learn about resources offered by ACC’s Transfer and Career Services teams. Register here.
  • 6 p.m., Tuesday, September 13: Smart Start to Your Bachelor’s Degree 
    • Get a general overview of effective transfer planning and the transfer support resources available at ACC. Participants will lay a foundation to get a smart start on a future bachelor’s degree. Register here.
  • 5 p.m., Wednesday, September 14: University Transfer Panel
    • Hear directly from university admissions representatives for a panel discussion on transfer admissions, helpful hints, and information on their institutions. Participating universities: The University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M, University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas Tech, and Texas State.   • 1:30 p.m., Thursday. September 15: Transfer Essay Workshop
    • Writing a college essay can feel overwhelming, but participants will review common transfer essay prompts, help you identify what topics to write about, and how to craft a strong, well-written essay that will show the university admissions committee why you should be accepted. After the workshop, members from the ACC transfer team will review essays. Join in person at ACC Highland Campus, Building 2000, Room 2.1550.0 or virtually here.
  • 11 a.m., Friday, September 16: The University of Texas at Austin Admissions Information Session
    • Dream of being a Longhorn? Admissions representatives from the University of Texas at Austin will review requirements, transfer application process, and answer transfer questions during this session. Register here.

ACC maintains its recognition as the No. 1 college in Texas for transfer student success, according to The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). The college has articulation agreements with more than 60 universities.
