Austin Community College District (ACC) needs your help finding good homes for our pets. Every semester, ACC Veterinary Technology students, faculty, and staff care for and treat shelter animals from the region. As the summer semester winds down, those animals are ready for forever homes.
Meet Your New Best Friend
This summer’s cohort includes a wide range of pets with unique personalities and stories who would love to go home with you! From playful puppies and loyal adult dogs to curious kittens and affectionate adult cats, there’s a perfect match for every household.
The Adoption Process
Adopting a pet from the Vet Tech department is straightforward and rewarding. Prospective pet owners can schedule a visit to meet the animals and learn about each pet’s history and needs from knowledgeable staff.
- Visit the Facility: Located at ACC’s Elgin Campus, contact Libby Chow ([email protected]) to schedule a time to visit.
- Meet the Pets: Interact with the animals to find the perfect match for your family and lifestyle.
- Complete the Application: Fill out an adoption application, providing information about your living situation and experience with pets.
- Adoption Fee: A nominal adoption fee helps cover the cost of the animal’s care and medical treatments.
- Support and Resources: To ensure a smooth transition, the Vet Tech department will provide adopters with support, including resources on pet care, training tips, and access to veterinary services.
Why Adopt from ACC’s Vet Tech Department?
Adopting from the Vet Tech department not only provides a loving home for a deserving pet; it also supports the program’s educational mission. ACC partners with local, rural animal shelters across Central Texas, which helps free space in these communities.
All ACC pets have undergone socialization and basic training, are microchipped, and are up to date on their medical care, including vaccinations and heartworm prevention care.
