About 70 Austin Community College District (ACC) students got the opportunity to help make the Austin City Limits Music Festival happen. The students worked alongside festival crews to gain real-world industry experiences in artist management & marketing, live sound engineering, and video production.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to get first-hand exposure to the dynamic and fast-paced world of large-scale event production,” says Perry Crafton, dean of ACC’s Arts & Digital Media. “They will work alongside industry professionals and participate in key behind-the-scenes operations that bring one of the world’s most renowned music festivals to life.”

“It was a super great experience! I got to shadow Bryan Woodall from LD Systems. He had a lot of great information to share with me. Audio can change based on temperatures and humidity. I learned how they set up stages, PA systems for outdoor/festival settings, and certain things to look out for when doing sound in such a large space. It was nice to learn from all of his years of experience as an Audio Engineer.”
About ACL University
ACL University is a new partnership program between ACC, C3 Presents, and Jeff McClusky & Associates. Originally launched as Festival University at Bonnaroo in 2018 and expanded to Lollapalooza in 2020, it has supported students from DePaul, Belmont, and Kennedy King College. ACL University helps students explore the festival’s impact on the local music scene, learn festival production fundamentals, and engage with industry professionals across production, management, marketing, and public relations.
ACC’s Arts & Digital Media Division offers certificates, associate degrees, and transfer pathways in various creative technologies fields, including audio engineering, radio-television-film, motion graphics, music, and more.
