Noon – 1 p.m. Thursday, September 16 | ACC’s Riverside Campus, 1020 Grove Blvd.
The Austin Community College District invites you to celebrate Diez y Seis at the Riverside Campus on Thursday, September 16.
The event commemorates the date Mexico, which at the time included territory that’s now Texas, declared its independence from Spain nearly 200 years ago. Therefore on Thursday come join us when we celebrate both Mexico and Texas independence.
The Diez y Seis celebration will take place September 16, from noon to 1 p.m. at ACC’s Riverside Campus, located at 1020 Grove Blvd. Diez y Seis is free and open to the public.
Historian and ACC Professor Dr. Andres Tijerina will explain the meaning of Diez y Seis, and attendees will enjoy the rhythmic steps of Roy Lozano’s Ballet Folklórico. Musical guests include Johnny Degollado y su Conjunto Band, Mariachi Estrella, and ACC’s own Boca Abajo.
Visit the ACC Center for Public Policy and Political Studies website or call (512) 223.7049 for more information.

The correct way to spell 16 in spanish is dieciseis. Not diez y seis cuz that means ten and six… not sixteen.
