The Austin Community College District Board of Trustees has appointed the members of the college’s Presidential Search Advisory Committee (PSAC). The team of internal and external representatives will advise the board in its search to replace the retiring president/CEO, Dr. Stephen B. Kinslow.
“The board structured the committee in a way that balances external and internal constituencies, provides geographic representation for in-district and out-of-district communities in ACC’s Service Area, and reflects the diversity of Central Texas,” says Dr. Barbara Mink, chair of the ACC Board of Trustees. “This will be a collaborative and transparent process.”
The board sought committee members with in-depth knowledge of and experience with ACC, and who understand the challenges, successes, and priorities of community colleges.

I’ve already lodged this complaint through Pat Stubbs, but seeing this makes me want to be sure it’s heard.
I think it’s a travesty to have 25 people on a presidential search committee and for only four of them to be faculty. I think a much better idea would be to drop about five of the outside members and add one more staff member, one more administrator (not a vp), one more adjunct faculty member, and two more full-time faculty members. If you wanted to drop more outside members and add even more faculty, that would be fine with me.
I appreciate a variety of representation, but the internal staff should be the priority group. This committee does not reflect that.
