ACC delivers more than 4,000 children’s books to Brown Santa program

Austin Community College will present more than 4,000 children’s books to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office for its Brown Santa program at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, at the Highland Campus social staircase (6101 Highland Campus Drive).

Sponsored by the college’s Student Government Association (SGA), the drive benefits children of disadvantaged families.

“As fortunate as many of us may be during the holidays, we should never forget that many continue to struggle. These donations, collected by the ACC community, represent the spirit of keeping our friends and neighbors in mind, and providing for those who are less fortunate,” says Richard Vega, ACC SGA president. “Each book donated is a chance to give a child a way to spark their imagination and creativity.”

Since its launch, the college’s annual holiday book drive has collected more than 23,000 books for the Brown Santa program.

This year, partners include ACC’s Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Delta Kappa chapters, the ACC Police Department and Classified Employees Association, Adjunct Faculty, along with the Male Leadership Program.
