Geraldine Tucker

Woman of the Year: The Austin YWCA has named Geraldine Tucker, vice president of human resources, as one of its 2013 Women of the Year. Tucker is receiving the Lifetime Achievement award. Throughout her career Tucker has served on numerous boards, committees, and foundations, and currently is president of the Town Lake chapter of the Links Inc.

In Print: An article by Adjunct English Professor David Latimer recently was featured in the Austin American-Statesman. The story about his mother and the young soldier she knew who was killed in World War II commemorated Memorial Day. Read the article

Susan Thomason, director of Instructional Development Services, co-authored an article about creating clear academic and career pathways to degree and certificate completion in the April/May issue of Community College Journal. The article discusses integrating academics with strengthened advising, support programs, and applied learning opportunities.

Going Green: The 1928 bungalow that Visual Communication Professor Will Rainey and Jill LaVigne call home was part of Austin Energy Green Building and the Texas Solar Energy Society’s Cool House Tour. Meanwhile, a straw-bale home that Rainey and LaVigne built to live in during their bungalow renovation now serves as Rainey’s office. Rainey has taught at ACC since 2002.
