Earning A’s: Faculty and staff activities, accomplishments, and accolades

Dr. Thomas Husak, professor of music and ACC Jazz Ensemble artistic director, has completed a new work for concert jazz orchestra titled “Incantation, Lament, and Triumphant Waltz,” dedicated to the Parkland, Florida victims, families, and friends. In the coming months, the work will be premiered by the University of Florida Concert Orchestra, the University of Miami, Coral Gables Jazz Orchestra, and the University of West Florida Jazz Ensemble.

 

Bailey Jones, adjunct associate professor of architectural and engineering CAD, has published a book called The $39 Mustache Comb: The Start-Up Guide To Manufacturing. The book debuted as the “#1 New Release” in Industrial Manufacturing on Amazon.

ACC’s Associate Degree Nursing Program has been ranked as one of the best in Texas by RegisteredNursing.org. Nursing programs were assessed on several factors that represent how well a program supports students toward licensure and beyond, including first-time NCLEX-RN licensure pass rates weighted by year.

 

Kathryn Patton, associate professor of diagnostic imaging, received her master’s degree in adult education and training from the University of Phoenix.

Roberta Deutsch, adjunct associate professor of nursing, was elected president-elect of the Infusion Nurses Society for 2018-2019. The Infusion Nurses Society is a national organization, and she is board certified in infusion.

For the third year, ACC’s Department of Professional Photography hosted the Association of Texas Photography Instructors Winter Conference in February. The conference drew more than 380 students and instructors from high schools across Texas. Over 50 faculty, staff, and volunteers from ACC’s Professional Photography, Radio Television and Film, and Visual Communication departments led dozens of hands-on workshops covering topics such as studio lighting techniques, introduction to video, and advanced digital photography tools.
