February HR Connection: IRS forms issued, retirees, and more

IRS Forms 1095-B and 1095-C Now Available

IRS Forms 1095-B and 1095-C have been issued to all employees who averaged at least 30 hours of work per week during 2017, regardless of whether or not they were enrolled in ACC health coverage.

The IRS Form 1095-C is issued by ACC and contains information about whether you were offered qualified and affordable health care coverage. In addition, ACC employees who are enrolled in either the Blue Cross Blue Shield HealthSelect or Scott & White health plans through the ERS will receive an IRS Form 1095-B from their carrier. The IRS Form 1095-B reports if you and each of your covered dependents had health coverage with the plan during the year.

The forms provide information about your health coverage that employees use when completing their annual federal income tax filing. The forms should be retained with your tax records, but do not need to be included with your filed tax return.

If you do not receive your IRS Form 1095-B by the end of February, please contact your health insurance provider at:

  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (800) 252-8039 (TTY: 711) 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., CT Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m., CT Saturday.
  • Scott & White Health Plan: (800) 321-7947, TTY/TTD (800) 735-2989, 24 hours, seven days a week

Employees who have signed up to receive an electronic version of the IRS Form 1095-C in ACC Online Services can login to view and print the document. Copies will not be mailed to those who consented to receive the form electronically. Employees who have not consented to receive their tax documents electronically have been sent a copy of their IRS Form 1095-C by U.S. Mail. If you do not receive your IRS Form 1095-C by mid-February, please contact the HR Benefits office at: [email protected] or call Alisol Martinez at 512-223-7800.

Honoring recent retirees

ACC celebrates the following retiree. Retirees are recognized at Board of Trustees meetings for their years of service to the college.

Don D. Bradley, Advising Specialist, 23 years of service at ACC

Employee Wellness Program Transition

ACC’s employee wellness program is in transition with the departure of Gina Akin, our outstanding wellness coordinator who helped establish the program over the past five years. Gina has taken a new job outside the college and we are in the process of hiring a new coordinator.

Onsite exercise classes will continue uninterrupted but other planned programs for this spring have been postponed for a short time. Programs such as ‘Become an Exercise Star’, Mammo Mixers, workshops, and webinars will be rescheduled when the new coordinator is in place.

If you have questions about the programs, please contact HR Benefits at [email protected]

ERS Dependent Verification Vendor Changes Name

For several years, Aon Hewitt has managed dependent eligibility verifications for ERS. On January 25, Aon Hewitt changed its name to Alight Solutions (Alight). If you recently added dependents to your health coverage, or are adding dependents in the future, you will now get communications from Alight instead of Aon Hewitt. Communications from Alight could be by mail, email, and/or phone. Any correspondence from Alight should mention ERS.

ERS’ dependent eligibility verification policy is unchanged: When adding dependents to your ERS coverage, the required documentation must be submitted to prove your dependents are eligible to participate in the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP). If you don’t submit the documentation by the specified deadline, the dependents will be dropped from health coverage and any other GBP benefits they are enrolled in.

If you have questions about the name change, please call Alight Solutions toll-free at (800) 987-6605 (TTY: 711) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. CT. More information about dependent eligibility verification is available on the ERS website.
