{"id":24809,"date":"2014-02-05T15:30:00","date_gmt":"2014-02-05T20:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=24809"},"modified":"2014-02-05T15:30:00","modified_gmt":"2014-02-05T20:30:00","slug":"view-the-night-sky-at-acc-star-party-feb-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/2014\/02\/05\/view-the-night-sky-at-acc-star-party-feb-7\/","title":{"rendered":"View the Night Sky at ACC Star Party Feb. 7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Austin Community College is hosting its first star party of the semester Friday, Feb. 7 &#8211; giving the college and community an opportunity to stargaze from the Round Rock Campus observation deck.<\/p>\n<p>The event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with shows in the Austin Planetarium&#8217;s Discovery Dome, a digital mobile planetarium, as well as family-friendly exhibits and interactive science activities (Building 2000 lobby).<\/p>\n<p>The Building 3000 observation deck will open at 8 p.m. Attendees are invited to observe the night sky through the Physical Sciences Department&#8217;s telescopes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a great event for the entire community,&#8221; says Dr. Jim Heath, chair of ACC&#8217;s Physical Sciences Department. &#8220;Our hands-on activities make the star party fun for everyone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The star party is free and open to the public.
