Khosropour, who serves as coordinator for the college&#8217;s proposed Conflict Transformation and Peace Studies Program, this summer will participate in four weeks of training in peace-building and conflict management.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Mark Cunningham<\/strong>, adjunct professor of radio, television &amp; film, was a panelist at a recent public roundtable and discussion of the film &#8220;Twelve Years a Slave.&#8221;\u00c2 The event was co-hosted by the Texas Institute for Literary and Textual Studies<strong> <\/strong>and\u00c2 the John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>History Professor <strong>Dr.<\/strong> <strong>Andr\u00e9s Tijerina<\/strong> is working with Emilio Zamora of UT-Austin to co-direct a project to increase the number of entries on Mexican-American history in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tshaonline.org\/handbook\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Handbook of Texas<\/a>, published by the Texas State Historical Association. Hayman chairs the Austin-Lima sister-city committee, which also raises money for charity projects, including an organization that helps young  mothers in Lima.<\/p>\n<p>Cypress Creek Campus Manager <strong>Linda Haywood<\/strong> was a finalist for the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year.<\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_25151\" style=\"width: 117px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2014\/02\/Victoriaportraitcompsd.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25151\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-25151 \" title=\"Victoriaportraitcompsd\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2014\/02\/Victoriaportraitcompsd-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"107\" height=\"141\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-25151\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Victoria Suescum<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Victoria Suescum<\/strong>, associate professor of art, was featured along with her husband in a San Antonio Express-News article about their dual art careers and recent joint art exhibit. Their work was on display at San Antonio&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.remgallery.com\/?reload\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">REM Gallery<\/a> in January and February. Suescum has taught at ACC since 2006. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/default\/article\/Couple-s-art-exhibit-proves-opposites-really-do-5129013.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read the article<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nita Hazle<\/strong>, adjunct professor of biology, recently discussed the ecological diversity of the state&#8217;s Enchanted Rock formation and the importance of protecting it at the Hill Country chapter of Texas Master Naturalists. Hazle teaches at ACC&#8217;s Fredericksburg Center.<\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_25222\" style=\"width: 132px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2014\/03\/DARLA_JOHNSON.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25222\" class=\"size-full wp-image-25222\" title=\"DARLA_JOHNSON\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2014\/03\/DARLA_JOHNSON.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"122\" height=\"119\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-25222\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Darla Johnson<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Darla Johnson<\/strong>, adjunct professor of dance, has been invited to speak at the World Dance Alliance Global Summit in Angers, France this summer. Johnson and fellow choreographer and educator Nicole Wesley are founders of The Justice Project, which gives students the opportunity to explore perspectives on justice by translating their writings, discussions, and readings into dance. Currently, The Justice Project is working with students at McCallum Fine Arts Academy in Austin.<\/p>\n<p>More than <strong>140 faculty and staff<\/strong> are included in ACC&#8217;s<strong> <\/strong>first\u00c2 Achievements  of Faculty &amp; Staff publication.
