Nathan Brown<\/strong>, adjunct associate professor of creative writing, is in his second year of a two-year term as Oklahoma’s poet laureate<\/a>. Brown has authored nine books including “Less Is More, More or Less,” published last year. Oklahoma television station OETA recently featured Brown on its ONR (Oklahoma News Report). <\/em>View the OETA video<\/a>. <\/em> <\/em><\/p>\n Fred McGhee<\/strong>, adjunct associate professor of anthropology, is a candidate for Austin City Council representing District 3.<\/p>\n Andr\u00e9s Tijerina<\/strong>, professor of history, will be a panelist at the May 7 Faculty Book Pl\u00e1tica Series sponsored by the Center for Mexican American Studies (CMAS) at the University of Texas at Austin. The program will discuss the work of UT History Professor Emilio Zamora, who edited and translated The World War I Diary of Jos\u00e9 de la Luz S\u00e1enz. <\/a><\/em>Read more about the CMAS Faculty Book Pl\u00e1tica program.<\/a><\/p>\n Geraldine Tucker<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Geraldine Tucker<\/strong>, vice president of human resources, received the Integrity award from The First Tee of Greater Austin<\/a>, a nonprofit organization that promotes life-enhancing values and healthy choices for youth through golf. First Tee’s 9 Core Values Awards are presented annually to those who exemplify the organization’s life skills curriculum. View the 9 Core Values Awards news release<\/a> to learn more about the awards and the other recipients.<\/p>\n Dana Tucker<\/strong>, Human Resources Department senior compensation analyst, will graduate May 9 with Master of Science in Management & Leadership degree from Tarleton State University.<\/p>\n Kathy Gromoll<\/strong> and Dana Tucker, <\/strong>Human Resources Department senior compensation analysts, recently presented workshops at the Texas Total Rewards Conference in Houston and the Joint Meeting of the Austin Human Resource Management Association\/Central Texas Compensation & Benefits Association. Their topic was “Becoming an HR Transformer: Turning Job Data into a Career Path Program.” The programs focused on developing and implementing ACC’s Career Connection Program<\/a>. The two <\/strong>also presented “Developing Golden Ethics” at the Lone Star Chapter Conference of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources held recently in Austin.<\/p>\n The Austin American-Statesman published “How Laguna Gloria Got the Best of Me,” an essay by creative writing Professor Nina Butts<\/strong> about her experience taking a Laguna Gloria Art School class. Butts has taught at ACC since 1979. Read the essay<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Hays Campus door graphics<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The Public Information and College Marketing Department earned the CASE District IV 2014 Gold award for specialty print advertising projects for door and window graphics for the new Hays Campus. Paula Ribeiro<\/strong>, graphic design manager, was the lead designer for the project.
