{"id":33550,"date":"2015-03-23T15:45:34","date_gmt":"2015-03-23T15:45:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=33550"},"modified":"2015-04-10T13:54:21","modified_gmt":"2015-04-10T13:54:21","slug":"acc-to-pilot-early-college-high-school-for-homeschooled-groups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/2015\/03\/23\/acc-to-pilot-early-college-high-school-for-homeschooled-groups\/","title":{"rendered":"ACC to pilot early college high school for homeschooled groups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Austin Community College (ACC) is launching a pilot program to provide an Early College High School (ECHS) pathway for independent learners starting this fall.<\/p>\n<p>The early college high school initiative allows students to earn a high school diploma, an associate degree, and as many as 60 transferable credits that count toward a bachelor\u2019s degree during the same four years.<\/p>\n<p>ACC currently serves students at Austin, Bastrop, Elgin, and Manor ISD early college high schools. The pilot program extends the opportunity to homeschooled and other students in grades 9-12 currently without access to an early college high school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a rigorous, yet supportive program,\u201d says Dr. Melissa Biegert, ACC early college high school director. \u201cHighly motivated students have an opportunity to save significant time and money on their college pathway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The program will accept students who are entering 9<sup>th<\/sup> and 10<sup>th<\/sup> grades in fall. The application process begins April 6 and ends May 1. The cost of classes has not been determined.<\/p>\n<p>Information sessions are scheduled at the following campuses between March 24 and April 2:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pinnacle Campus: March 24, 7-8 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Round Rock Campus: March 26, 6-7 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Highland Campus: March 28, 10-11 a.m.<\/li>\n<li>Cypress Creek Campus: April 1, 7-8 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Pinnacle Campus: April 2, 6-7 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/offices\/early-college-high-school\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">austincc.edu\/echs<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Austin Community College (ACC) is launching a pilot program to provide an Early College High School (ECHS) pathway for independent learners starting this fall.
