The Austin Community College District (ACC) Board of Trustees has selected Pfluger Associates as the lead architect\/engineering team for ACC Leander Campus<\/p>\n
\u201cThis selection is an important and meaningful step forward. The community has been waiting. It\u2019s been 30 years in the making,\u201d says Dr. Vic Villarreal, ACC Board chair, regarding the decision, which was made at the board\u2019s July 6 meeting. \u201cThis campus will serve a growing part of our district; expand educational opportunities to thousands, and relieve crowding at ACC\u2019s Cypress Creek Campus.\u201d<\/p>\n
ACC Leander Campus, funded by voter-approved bonds, will initially offer general education courses. Tentative plans include classrooms and labs, a library and media center, offices, and student support spaces, as well as multipurpose and meeting rooms, and a smaller version of the ACC Highland Campus\u00a0ACCelerator<\/a> computer lab.<\/p>\n \u201cSeeing the progress toward this campus is exciting. We\u2019re looking at not only the current needs, but the future needs. Leander is growing, and we need to expand opportunities here so that people can learn, work, play, and stay,\u201d says Chris Fielder, City of Leander mayor.<\/p>\n ACC staff will work with the Leander community in the coming months to develop campus-specific programs.<\/p>\n \u201cThis campus will open new pathways to one of our longest-standing community partners. We want to ensure thoughtful planning,\u201d says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC president and CEO. \u201cWe look forward to hearing what ideas Leander brings to the table.\u201d<\/p>\n The board is expected to select the construction manager at-risk for the campus in fall.
