The Austin Community College District (ACC) is preparing its campuses in the event of an emergency with a series of drills Tuesday, September 8 \u2013 Friday, September 11.<\/p>\n
ACC hosts Emergency Preparedness Week each semester to educate students, faculty, and staff on the best actions to take if an emergency were to happen on campus.\u00a0The college will conduct building evacuation drills at selected campuses and test the ACC Emergency Alert System.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese drills are critical. We practice at least once a semester to give people the opportunity to familiarize themselves with ACC\u2019s emergency procedures so that they are prepared to act when the unexpected occurs,\u201d says Kristine Elderkin, ACC emergency management coordinator. \u201cThrough these drills, we identify areas of strength as well as aspects where we can continue to improve \u2013 that\u2019s the whole purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n
ACC will test its\u00a0Emergency Alert System<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0Wednesday, September 9.<\/strong>\u00a0During the test, e-mail and text alerts will be sent to all registered email accounts and devices.<\/p>\n Students, faculty, and staff may access\u00a0ACC\u2019s emergency procedures through a mobile app called In Case of Crisis-Education.
