{"id":38758,"date":"2016-04-20T18:59:03","date_gmt":"2016-04-20T18:59:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=38758"},"modified":"2016-05-23T14:06:00","modified_gmt":"2016-05-23T14:06:00","slug":"acc-partners-with-adobe-to-provide-students-free-software-access-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/2016\/04\/20\/acc-partners-with-adobe-to-provide-students-free-software-access-2\/","title":{"rendered":"ACC partners with Adobe to provide students free software access"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Austin Community College District\u2019s (ACC) Business, Government, and Technical Communications Department is partnering with Adobe Systems Inc. to provide students free access to industry-leading tools.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/products\/technicalcommunicationsuite.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adobe Technical Communication Suite<\/a>, which includes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/in\/products\/framemaker.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FrameMaker<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/in\/products\/robohelp.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RoboHelp<\/a>, will help prepare students for employment in the technical communication industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis donation provides our students with essential hands-on experience using the exact software they\u2019ll likely encounter in their careers as technical writers, online help authors, and desktop publishers,\u201d says David McMurrey, ACC Business, Government, and Technical Communications Department chair. \u201cIt\u2019s the best technology for content development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The software donation will allow students and professors to author, enrich, review, manage, and publish interactive technical documents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was first introduced to Adobe FrameMaker during my Technical Publishing with Adobe FrameMaker class,\u201d says Jhenelle J., former ACC student. \u201cIt\u2019s become my go-to tool. I\u2019m able to put together various technical documents with ease.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cACC is doing a great job of preparing the next generation of technical communicators,\u201d says Saibal Bhattacharjee, senior product marketing manager for Adobe\u2019s Technical Communication line of products. \u201cWe\u2019re excited to extend our partnership with ACC and offer their students access to the latest version of cutting-edge Adobe Technical Communication tools. We believe that possessing hands-on school project experience in these professional tools will provide a distinct competitive edge to the ACC graduates and provide them with an opportunity to impress prospective employers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ACC\u2019s Business and Technical Communications Department offers degrees and certificates in business and government communications, social media communications, and technical communications.
