Keynote speaker is Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar.<\/p>\n<p>Hegar served in the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate before being elected state comptroller in 2014. During his time in the Legislature, he worked on a wide range of issues such as transportation, tax reform, government transparency, Second Amendment rights, and public education.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-38826\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2016\/04\/Glenn-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"Glenn\" width=\"244\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2016\/04\/Glenn-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2016\/04\/Glenn.jpg 731w, https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2016\/04\/Glenn-107x150.jpg 107w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 244px) 100vw, 244px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike Hegar, we understand the importance of preparing and building future leaders,\u201d says CPPPS Director Peck Young. \u201cWe\u2019ve created innovative programs to encourage students to engage in political and civic environments, enriching their learning experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CPPPS is the nation\u2019s first nonprofit political studies center at a community college. Founded in 2007, the center has built a roster of award-winning student programs, internships, and conferences while continuing to gather support for further innovation and growth.<\/p>\n<p>Luncheon guests will have an opportunity to visit with the CPPPS board and staff along with students who have participated in center programs.
