Barrientos and local historians will pay tribute to the cultural, historical, and political contributions of Tejanos, Mexican-Americans, and other Hispanics. Other speakers\u00a0include\u00a0Consul General from Mexico Carlos Gonzalez Gutierrez, County Judge Sarah Eckhardt, Mayor Steve Adler, and Councilmember Delia Garza.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important that we recognize the diverse contributions of Hispanic and Latino-Americans,\u201d says Dr. Mariano Diaz-Miranda, ACC professor of history and director of the Latino\/Latin American Studies Center. \u201cMuch of our history as a state has been shaped by their influence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Guests will enjoy the rhythmic steps of Roy Lozano\u2019s Ballet Folklorico and entertainment from Johnny Degollado y su Conjunto and Mariachi Estrella.<\/p>\n<p>The event is free and open to the public.
