The Austin Community College District (ACC) is preparing its campuses in the event of an\u00a0emergency\u00a0with a series of drills Monday, September 12, through Sunday, September 18.<\/p>\n
ACC hosts\u00a0Emergency\u00a0Preparedness\u00a0Week\u00a0each semester to educate students, faculty, and staff on the best actions to take if an\u00a0emergency\u00a0were to happen on campus.\u00a0The college will conduct building evacuation drills at select campuses and test the ACC\u00a0Emergency\u00a0Alert System districtwide and promote ACC emergency procedures.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe safety of our students, faculty, staff, and guests is a priority. It\u2019s important that we take proactive steps every semester to prepare the ACC community in the case of an emergency,\u201d says Kristine Elderkin, ACC\u00a0emergency\u00a0management coordinator. \u201cThese drills give people an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the college\u2019s evacuation procedures.\u201d<\/p>\n
ACC will test its\u00a0Emergency\u00a0Alert System\u00a0on\u00a0Wednesday, September14.\u00a0During the test, all available emergency communication methods will be activated including the system that sends e-mail and text alerts to all registered email accounts and devices.<\/p>\n
Students, faculty, and staff may access\u00a0ACC\u2019s\u00a0emergency\u00a0procedures through a mobile app called Crisis Manager. The app is available through the Apple app store, Google Play, or Amazon for Android.<\/p>\n
