Austin Community College (ACC) is holding information sessions and workshops to help women over 50 find new careers, gain skills, and build financial security.<\/p>\n
Spring workshops for the program, called \u201cBACK TO WORK 50+ at Austin Community College,\u201d begin Tuesday, January 31, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Highland Campus ACCelerator (6101 Airport Blvd.).<\/p>\n
According to AARP Foundation, Americans age 50 and older represent the largest overall increase in long-term unemployment. Older women bear the greater share of this burden: 60 percent of women 65 and older have incomes insufficient to cover basic expenses.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are here to give you the tools to help and guide you on your pathway to economic stability,\u201d says Cecilia Padilla Lopez, BACK TO WORK 50+ at ACC coach. \u201cThis program can help you gain the confidence, skills, and opportunities needed to find full-time employment, improve financial capability, and avoid poverty later in life.\u201d<\/p>\n
BACK TO WORK 50+ at ACC includes a set of integrated core services for qualified participants:<\/p>\n
Scholarships are available.<\/p>\n

BACK TO WORK 50+: Women\u2019s Economic Stability Initiative at Austin Community College is funded by a $300,000 grant from AARP Foundation through the Social Innovation Fund.
