Students get hands-on support to move forward in the workforce. They can graduate with their associate degree, start working, and stay in school to build their credentials. Together we build a strong pipeline of highly skilled workers.”

Rhodes joined Concordia University Texas President Dr. Don Christian and other college leaders to formally announce the partnership April 12 at ACC’s Highland Campus.

“We love partnering with ACC,” says Dr. Christian. “Both of our schools focus on student success. We focus on what’s good for the region. We focus on partnerships that help students get what they need to be successful.”

Concordia Connect 3+1 addresses the growing need for skilled workers in Central Texas.

“It is the role of higher education to develop a workforce and educate and equip individuals for the jobs and careers of the future,” says Dr. Lynette Gillis, Concordia vice president of graduate studies. “We must upscale our workforce and move them toward the future. Through the 3+1, students will gain technical, critical thinking, business, leadership, and analytical skills. This will make them qualified for managerial and leadership roles in their applied technical fields.”

Qualified students who have completed or have almost completed their two-year AAS degree can apply for automatic admission to the program. Once accepted, students use their third year to fulfill the Texas core curriculum requirements at ACC. For their fourth year, students complete the remaining 37 credits for the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science degree through Concordia. Courses are taught by visiting Concordia professors at ACC. Classes in the final year of the program will be offered in an accelerated format with options for daytime, evenings, and weekends.

Participating students pay ACC tuition for the first three years of the program and pay Concordia’s tuition the final year. Financial aid and payment plans are offered all four years of the program.

Students in the program also will have access to facilities, faculty, tutoring, advising, libraries, and other resources at both institutions.

For more information, visit austincc.edu/concordia, or contact Shane Montoya, Concordia assistant director of transfer and adult admissions, at 512-313-4636 or Shane.Montoya@concordia.edu.

View photos from the event.

Austin Community College and Concordia University Texas have launched a co-enrollment partnership starting fall 2017 to offer career-technical students a flexible, affordable path to a bachelor’s degree at ACC.
