In-district tuition and fees at Austin Community College (ACC) will remain unchanged for a fourth consecutive year. The college’s Board of Trustees voted to maintain the 2017-18 tuition and fee rates for both in-district and out-of-district students.<\/p>\n
\u201cACC is committed to ensuring students have not only an accessible path to college\u00a0but an\u00a0affordable\u00a0path forward. It’s important that students stay enrolled and achieve their academic goals,\u201d says Dr. Barbara Mink, ACC Board of Trustees chair. \u201cPaying for college is a barrier for many. I\u2019m proud that we\u2019re able to hold tuition rates steady.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board statistics, in-district students at ACC save approximately 80 percent in tuition and fees on a two-year degree at ACC compared with other area institutions:<\/p>\n
Cost for Two Years of College<\/strong> (60 Credits)<\/p>\n Trustees also approved a new policy that would phase in savings of up to $77 per credit hour for out-of-district students after the 2017-18 academic year.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want to expand access to our out-of- district students, but recognized that the tuition and fee rates were becoming a barrier,\u201d says Neil Vickers, ACC vice president of finance and administration. \u201cWith this new policy, we\u2019re alleviating some of that pressure.<\/p>\n The new policy will retain a sizeable difference between in-district and out-of- district tuition and fees. In-district applies to students who reside within ACC\u2019s taxing district and support the college through tax dollars. This area includes the City of Austin as well as the Austin, Leander, Manor, Del Valle, Round Rock, Elgin, and Hays school districts.<\/p>\n Summer 2017 registration is underway. Fall registration begins May 15 for current and former students and May 30 for new students.
