A crane lowered the final beam adjacent to a small evergreen tree, a traditional symbol of a successful topping out that\u2019s thought to bring good luck to a building\u2019s future occupants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis facility is going to serve our community for many decades &#8212; thousands and thousands of people &#8212; and that\u2019s a lot of good luck,\u201d said Marty Burger, vice president of American Constructors, the project\u2019s construction manager. He added that design and construction teams had worked closely with ACC to deliver a building the public deserves and within budget.<\/p>\n<p>ACC President\/CEO Dr. Richard Rhodes said the new campus represents a longstanding commitment to Leander.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re standing in front of what the future holds for this community,\u201d he said \u201cWith the support of the Leander community we\u2019re bringing that vision to fruition.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-responsive  embed-responsive-16by9\">\n<div class=\"iframe-container\">\n<div class=\"iframe-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"embed-responsive-item\"   class=\"embed-responsive-item\"   title=\"A First Look at ACC&#039;s San Gabriel Campus\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0b7lXEiDg0o?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Scheduled to open next summer, the San Gabriel Campus will serve one of the fastest-growing areas in the country. The three-story campus will offer transferable general education courses and career training, initially accommodating up to 2,500 students. It will feature a 150-seat <a href=\"http:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/highland-campus\/accelerator\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ACCelerator<\/a> learning lab integrated with a library and tutoring areas, multipurpose rooms for community use, and open spaces for studying and gathering, including a 3,900-square-foot rooftop terrace.<\/p>\n<p>The first major addition to Leander\u2019s Transit Oriented Development District, the campus is expected to anchor future development and serve as a hub for community engagement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur growth is extraordinary.
