<\/a><\/p>\nSummer Institute participants spent a week discussing engaged-learning strategies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Forty-three faculty just spent a week exploring ideas for incorporating engaged-learning strategies into their teaching at an institute designed and led by our \u201cProject Active and Collaborative Communities\u201d <\/a>(Project ACC) faculty fellows.<\/p>\n Daily plenary and breakout sessions included numerous presentations such as \u201cActive Teaching FUNdamentals,\u201d \u201cVoiceThread: Fad or Fab,\u201d and \u201cTurning Group Projects that Bomb into \u2018The Bomb.\u2019\u201d Discussions covered techniques and strategies for building a classroom community, using Blackboard for assessment, flipped classrooms, and much more. Participants worked in teams to develop plans to pilot engaged-learning practices they will use in at least one of their fall courses.<\/p>\n Summer Institute participants and their departments were:<\/p>\n

These 14 full-time and adjunct faculty were selected last fall to spend four semesters researching, testing, and implementing engaged-learning practices. I want to thank the fellows for leading the institute and the participants for providing their expertise and enthusiasm.
